Skinny sipping: dreamy, light cocktails for warm days

You can trim down your calories without skimping on flavour this spring and summer. Here’s our first round of sweet and savoury lower calorie and fresh fruit- and herb-based cocktails. More will be coming as summer goes on. (Cocktails inspired by WP24, Wolfgang Puck’s downtown Los Angeles Asian eatery and lounge.)

Pineapple mojito
1½ oz Bacardi light rum
1 oz fresh pineapple puree
Muddled mint (infused in pineapple)
2 oz Prosecco, or soda for the lighter variation

Verbena lemonade (at front, in photograph above right)
1½ oz citrus-flavoured or infused vodka
1 oz lemon juice
1 oz pineapple puree
1 tsp lemongrass syrup
1 tsp honey
Soda topper
A pinch verbena herb leaves

Cucumber Martini (at rear, in photograph above right)
2 oz Hendrick’s gin
1½ oz muddled cucumber and basil leaves

Voli skinny pink lemonade (110 calories)
1½ oz Voli Lemon
2 oz cranberry juice
1 oz lemon juice
Splash of club soda

The Ferguson (118 calories)
1½ oz Voli Lemon
¾ oz Apple Pucker
2 fresh lemon squeezes
Top with soda
Apple slice for garnish

Bikini Martini (110 calories)
2 oz Voli Lyte
5 blueberries
Mint
Agave nectar
Soda water
Glass: martini

Sexy Splash (75 calories)
1½ oz Voli Lyte
2 oz club soda
2 lime wedges
Glass: highball
Garnish: lime
Serve over ice
Squeeze and drop limes into drink and stir.

Voli Suntan (144 calories)
1½ oz Voli Orange Vanilla
2 oz lemonade
1½ oz agave nectar
½ oz pineapple juice
Glass: rocks
Garnish: orange twist

In a mixing tin, add ice, Voli Orange Vanilla, lemonade, agave nectar, pineapple juice. Shake and strain into a rocks glass.

Voli Palmer (86 calories)
1½ oz Voli Lemon
3 oz diet iced tea
3 oz diet lemonade
Glass: highball
Garnish: fresh lemons
Build over ice and stir

Voli Green Garden (100 calories)
1½ oz Voli Lyte
Cut green pepper
1 oz Stevia packet
Small handful of basil
Basil garnish, salt and pepper rim on a martini glass

Muddle green pepper and basil. Add other ingredients to the shaker. Shake and strain into martini glass.

Skinny Street Lemonade (85 calories)
1½ oz Voli Mango
3 oz light sweet and sour mix
½ Monin Sugar Free Triple Sec
Lemon wedge garnish

Build over ice in a rocks glass.

Miami Mojito (85 calories)
1½ oz Voli Mango
3 lime wedges
2 mango chunks
1 Stevia packet
6 mint leaves

Top with soda after building the rest of the drink over ice in a highball glass. Garnish with mango and mint.

Breakfast of Champions (96 calories)
1½ oz Voli Mango
3 oz Motts apple juice light
Apple wheel garnish

Build in a highball glass over ice.

The Original Voli Mary (120 calories)
2 oz Voli Lyte
2 oz fresh tomato juice
1 tsp horseradish
1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
2 to 4 dashes of hot sauce
Pinch of salt and pepper
Squeeze of lemon and lime wedges
Olive and celery garnish (optional)

Voli heated Mary (115 calories)
2 oz Voli Lyte
2 oz fresh tomato juice
1 tsp horseradish
1 dash Worcestershire sauce
2 to 4 dashes of hot sauce
2 pepperoncini
Chili powder rum
Pinch of salt and pepper
Olive and celery garnish (optional)

Voli salty-but-sour Mary (110 calories)
2 oz Voli Lyte
3 oz fresh tomato juice
2 dashes red hot sauce
1 dash Worcestershire sauce
2 to 4 dashes of hot sauce
½ oz lemon juice
Pinch of salt
Stalk of celery

Top of the pops

Slim Berry Pop (48·6 calories each)
1½ oz Voli Lyte
12 blueberries
5 raspberries
4 strawberries
2½ oz Master of Mixers Sweet and Sour lite
1 oz water

Muddle blueberries, strawberries and raspberries in a tin. Add Voli, Sweet and Sour, water and shake. Pour into two popsicle containers and freeze.

Strawberry Pop (46·25 calories each)
1½ oz Voli Lyte
3 oz Master of Mixers Sweet and Sour Lite
3 oz Master of Mixers Strawberry Mixer
1 oz water

In a mixing tin, add all ingredients, shake and pour into two popsicle containers and freeze.
